New UB Medical School Opens

The long-awaited Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB at the edge of Allentown has finally opened. The October 2013 groundbreaking at the site on Main Street heralded an exciting new chapter for the school, which had been at the UB South campus since 1953. The 628,000 sq ft facility will serve to strengthen the school’s medical programs and help to recruit and train more doctors to meet the medical needs of the community and Western New York Region.

The President of the Allentown Association offered his well-wishes upon the opening:

“We offer our congratulations to the opening of new Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and welcome students, faculty and staff to experience the amenities of the Allentown neighborhood.”

D. Martinez, Allentown Assn. President
