The unusual and wellpreserved home at 58 Arlington Place was owned by Dr. and Mrs. J R Lansdowne in 1883. A later (1880s) owner of this home was Rudolph W. Wolffsohn, who was in insurance.
This home was one of the earlier houses to be built along the park. The porch, which is from a later date than the main house, is an exact replica of its next door neighbor, number 60.
In the 1960s the Smith College Club of Buffalo gave tours of distinctive homes in Buffalo as a benefit fund raiser. On May 21, 1966 58 Arlington Park was featured on one of these tours. At that time the home was owned by Mr. and Mrs. A. John Oddie. A description of the house from the tour guide stated: “Unusual wood block construction, gingerbread touches, a porch on two sides and a hitching post out front give this attractive house its quaint Victorian air. Inside, a profusion of plants, many lovely antiques and Mrs. Oddie’s own needlepoint cushions and chair seats play further variations on the Victorian theme.”
