This house on the corner of Arlington Park’s exit onto Wadsworth Street was built by Marion P. Hatch. Hatch owned Buffalo Coffee spice and drug mills at 155-157 Washington Street, located in a four story building forty-five by ninety feet.
The house was advertised for sale by agents Hume and Sanford in the September, 1887 edition of The Real Estate and Builder’s Monthly and described as a 2 story frame dwelling, modern, lot 28 x 111, and the asking price was $7,500.
In the 1990s, 52 Arlington had a 20th century siding torn off and the original clapboard detailing restored. This house was one of the last to be built along Arlington Park and fits snugly at the junction of Arlington Place between the park and Wadsworth Street. The home has especially detailed Queen Anne features including the varied use of oval, bay, and stained glass windows. The home also features an unusual diamond shaped shingle design in the gable.
