The Coit House Sale

Over the past six years the Allentown Association has worked to restore the Coit House, located at 414 Virginia Street, with the intention of turning the property into a public museum.  Despite notable restoration work on the Coit House by the Allentown Association and dedicated members of the Allentown community, the original vision of turning the house into a museum has not moved forward due to significant resource constraints.

In response to this reality as well as the current funding climate for non-profits, the Allentown Association is listing the Coit House for sale effective July 26th.  The Board has directed the property be sold to a responsible party who can effectively continue to restore it.

The Allentown Association especially thanks the countless community members who dedicated themselves to restoring the Coit House, and looks forward to identifying prospective future owners who can continue the important work of restoring Buffalo’s oldest house.
