Secrets of Allentown 2010
Secrets of Allentown: going strong after 20-plus years
This year’s focus: never-before-seen properties!
This year ‘s Secrets of Allentown historic property tour, to be held on September 11, includes both commercial and residential properties that have never been on the tour before.
Thanks to a dedicated committee and enthusiastic property owners working together, the 2010 Secrets looks to be one of the best ever.
Tour headquarters will be the Birge Mansion, 2 Symphony Circle. From there, attendees will see properties on Park, Irving, Mariner, and Main Street. Other exciting elements of this year’s Secrets include newly converted commercial buildings and a few residential properties that have never been included before.
As always, there is a wine tasting planned at the Hamlin House, 432 Franklin. The tour takes place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the tour, and members of the Allentown Association may purchase tickets for $15.
Attendees will receive a bound, 4-color booklet with information about all the properties as well as a map with trolley stops and a list of Allentown restaurants that will be offering discounts for Secrets attendees who show their tickets.
The Secrets committee is co-chaired by LaVerne Peakes and Elizabeth Licata with help from Andrew Eisenhardt, Gina Marameg, Melissa Dayton , Chris Brown, and Jonathan White. The Secrets poster design has once again been created by artist Greg Meadows, of The Martin Group.
